Abstract
Mice and rats were fed ad libitum both pellet and 10% ethanol in their drinking water for various period(60, 69, 70, 74 or 210 days). The effects of ethanol feeding on the resistance of mice to microbial infectin and NK cell activity in rats were
studied. It was found that ethanol feeding before microbial infections significantly decreased the resistance of mice to Cryptococcus neoformans Candida albicans and Salmonella typhimurium. Natural killer cell activity was significantly decreased
in
ethanol-fed rats.
